We recommend seeking out classes to properly instruct you in the skills to safely enjoy the water of your choosing.

Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUPs)

SUP Paddle Boards

Looking like a surfboard, Stand Up Paddling (SUP) blends the fun, and unexpected joy of being on the water with an extremely good core workout. You will see more and more races, events, skills, accessories and application as it’s popularity grows.

Explore our local waters or take with you on vacation you’ll enjoy many options with this on water activity.

The boards range from foam, inflatable, to fiberglass over foam core. These are generally pretty big boards, 8’6″ to 14′ long, and vary in width based on skill and activity. A hand hold in the middle of the board aids in the carry from your car to the water. While not as heavy as you might think their length calls for care while handling.[/twocol_one]

What is the current life jacket law?

All vessels, including canoes and kayaks, and stand up paddle boards must be equipped with one wearable Personal Flotation Device (life jacket) for each person on board or for each person being towed on water skis, etc. Boats 16 feet in length or over (except canoes and kayaks) must also be equipped with one Type IV (throwable) Personal Flotation Device in case someone falls overboard. All children 12 years of age and younger are required to wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket while on the open deck of a recreational boat except when anchored, moored, or aground.

On water the sun can sneak up on you…what to bring?

Sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, water to drink and a way to hold it like a fanny pack/Camelbak. You’ll want a waterproof bag for your phone or camera if you plan to take it. Wear clothes you don’t mind swimming in. Paddling is a wet sport, be prepared to get wet…often.
