Located on sixty-five acres of land just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Townsend, Tennessee, Appalachian Bear Rescue was formed in response to a hard mast (acorn) failure in the fall of 1989. This periodic event forced a large percentage of the East Tennessee black bear population into lower elevations in search of food, resulting in an unusually large number of orphaned cubs. In an effort to assist the National Park Service (NPS) and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency in caring for orphaned cubs in the Smokies, a group of dedicated individuals formed the ABC (now ABR).
Your support directly impacts the ecosystem through the reintroduction of these orphaned cubs!
We have partnered with Blount Partnership and Keen Footwear for this event.
Tap Takeover for the night is local berry Bluetick Brewery.
Tootsie Truck will be here to dish it out as well.
